Honor Work: Wading In

  • Agua y Sangre Healing Online Via Zoom (map)

Honor Work: Wading In - is a nurturing circle to begin exploring how grief shows up for us as individuals and communities so that we may more deeply understand it, hold space for the fullness of it, and expand around it in sweet, loving, and tender ways. Allowing us to strengthen our healing and (re)claim our grief and our joy.

Grief is honor work. (To quote Terese Marie Mailhot). It honors the love we experienced, maybe even still share, our capacity for love, and the love for ourselves. To love someone, something - is inherently connected with grief. To grieve someone, something - is inherently connected with love.

To be stewards of our grief - we must honor it. And to honor it - we must allow it to be. To witness it without judgement.

In allowing it to be - we start to unpack the notion that our grief needs to be fixed - and instead allow it to transform. We allow our grief to guide us to the best practices for holding it and ourselves with tenderness, for being accountable to the love we have for ourselves and others.

In this circle, we will:

  • begin to explore our relationship with grief and how it shows up for us

  • begin to unpack stories we’ve been told about grief by society, culture, our families

  • identify sensations and feelings that describe our experiences of grief

  • engage in trauma sensitive body-based practices for creating presence for how grief feels in our beings

  • identify ways we can tend to our grief

This circle is for you if:

  • You are curious to begin learning how to better honor your grief - to be more loving with yourself and your grief.

  • You’ve ever wanted to better understand your grief - how to talk about it, how to tend to it, how to ask for help around it

  • You’re curious how to begin decolonizing your grief practices

  • You’d like to learn + practice body based (somatic) methods for being with and processing grief

This circle is more of a “learning to hold ourselves tenderly in our grief” than a grief/feelings processing group - although there will be space for both. In showing up - you are committing to co-creating a nurturing space for all of us, regardless of where we may be in our grieving journeys. As such, group size will be limited.

As always, our work centers BIPOC fam, LGBTQIA+ sibs, hopeful or current parents whose parenting or healing journey exists beyond the so-called “norm,” and all those that are seeking nurturing and heart-centered space and guidance.

What You’ll Need: yourself, your presence and attention. Additionally, please bring a journal, notebook, or something to write with/on. We always recommend creating a comfortable and cozy space for you to be in attendance - however that might look.
